The kids tents were centered with the adults tents pitched around them, a small semi circle such as the wagons might have made in the pioneer days.
Jennifer absolutely loved camping. It was one of the few times when things like night time snacks were permissible. She had her own room. Granted the kids tents were not exactly a room, but it was close enough for her. At home she shared a room so having her
own space for the weekend made it exciting–not to mention just a little scary.
Unzipping her backpack she sniffed appreciatively. Her favorite snack, the peanut butter and banana sandwich smelled wonderful. She quickly polished off half of the sandwich and lay down, cocooning herself in the sleeping bag as the sights and sounds of the night closed in.
It had been her idea to sleep alone and the crackling leaves and sounds of the animals moving around in the nearby forest were exciting, but also just a little frightening. The kids tents had zippers that pulled down in the front. She drew hers down as far as it would go, leaving just a little space at the bottom for wiggle room, crawled down further into her sleeping bag and tried to sleep.
The sniffing woke her just as she drifted off. Something was scritch-scratching at the door of the tent– she held her breath, nearly afraid to look. Peering out of the top of her sleeping bag, she saw nothing more than a mask and watched from between her fingers as the mask covered face pulled her backpack away from the tent and out through the tiny opening.
Nearly petrified with fear she shot from the tent and tripped over her backpack– heading through the remaining kids tents, to where her parents slept. Stammering out the story, she flushed red as a beet in the darkness as her mother began to laugh.
“You were dreaming Jennifer” there are no masked bandits in the woods I promise you.” She continued to chuckle as she kissed Jennifer and sent her back through the darkness to the kids tents. The next day Jennifer was teased by the entire family. She was literally miserable as they pointed out that there was nothing missing from her backpack but a sandwich and the backpack was just outside the tent . “Jen, you ate the sandwich and dreamed your masked bandit.” she heard nearly all day long. All day long Jennifer was thinking, camping just wasn’t as much fun today. Under her breath she’d whisper ”yeah right; there was no a masked bandit. Just wait til he visits their tent tonight”.
She was more than ready for bed when night time rolled around, and zipping up the tent all the way to the bottom she curled down into the sleeping bag and nearly instantly fell asleep.
Mother wasn’t quite so quick to drift off. She watched the kids tents til each lantern went off. Lying down, sleep was still slow to arrive. She heard those same sounds that Jen had heard-watched in near horror as the tent flap lifted to reveal a masked face. Her expression changed from one of horror to understanding as the masked bandit began to pull her backpack away from the tent wall and drag it slowly, toward the tent entrance. What Jen did not know is that the Masked Bandit was actually a mother racoon looking for food to take to her baby racoons hidden safely away in the hole of a tree in the woods.
When mother woke up in the morning, what do you think she did? Did she go to the kids tents and tell all the kids she saw the masked bandit? Did she appologize to Jen in her kids tent? What would you do if you saw the Masked Bandit in your kids tents?
If you don’t have any kids tents but you want a chance to see the Masked Bandit, check out some cute kids tents today and look forward to a fun adventure with kids at the camp site.
You have finally decided that your child is old enough to enjoy the family camping trips; however, you do so with a bit of apprehension. To have the best camping trip with your child there are some pointers that you should take note of. Children need to be safe and active yet still find their first camping trip enjoyable so that they can look forward to more camping experiences in the years to come. To have that perfect camping trip you should consider:
- Safety: Children and camping is a perfect match for your inquisitive child. However, because children are so curious you have to ensure their safety, especially on a camping trip. Make sure that your child knows all of the important safety rules,
such as not venturing out in the middle of nowhere without an adult or not touching anything without knowing what it is and if it is safe. Children can get lost or hurt very easily. Teach your child some basic safety tips
- Sleep: Everyone needs a good night’s sleep, especially the children. Without adequate sleep, your child will likely be unpleasant, irritable and too tired to enjoy their camping experience. There are kids tents that are just perfect for the child camper.
- Nutrition: While many children eat a great deal of “junk” food, a camping trip is a time to go easy on this. Adequate nutrition is important so give the kids lots of fruits and vegetables to snack on. If the weather is rainy outside huddle inside and have a picnic inside the kids tent. They will think that it is great fun.
- Activity: The great outdoors allows some awesome activity possibilities. Take the kids hiking, biking or berry picking for starters. If there is swimming nearby, certainly enjoy that with your children. Water and kids go hand in hand.
- Clothing: Bring along clothes for your kids for the warmest and the coldest weather conditions. Put a small storage bin inside the kid’s tents so it will be readily available should they need it.
Camping with children is a great experience. Seeing the beauty of nature through your children’s eyes make it all worthwhile.
We were setting up the tent a couple of weeks ago when the kids pitched right in and helped set up the tent. Aunts, uncles and nieces were all involved in the setup of the tent as you can see in the picture. Kids learn a lot and they enjoy helping the grown ups with the tent set up because it makes them feel like a big boy or girl. This is also a great opportunity to teach the kids about tent set up and
how to pack the tent. They sometimes want to rush all of their belongings into the tent before packing the essentials like camp bedding. Teach them all you can when they are young and excited to learn and they will embrace camping and continue camping with friends and loved ones as they get older.
And don’t forget to return the favor when helping them set up their own kids tents. There are all kinds of kids tents available today in various sizes, shapes and colors.
Spend some time with your child looking at kids tentson the Internet to see what they like and get them one. Tell them they will have to set it up on their own and you will be the helper. Kids tents are affordable and will provide many years of enjoyment for them and you.

One of the great unknowns in our lives is why kids always want to be bigger and older while adults always want to be smaller and younger. As adults, our most fond memories tend to be those spent during our childhood… when we had no responsibilities, no aches or pains, no bills to pay and nothing to do but make friends, have fun, eat and sleep. While us adults constantly exercise to
maintain our youth and pay our bills on time to keep the things we’ve bought or stay out of trouble, we forget to have the kind of fun we had as kids. Kids look at adults as old people and big people because kids can not see over the counter top in the kitchen like an adult can or reach the top shelf in the refrigerator or lots of other things we see all the time and take for granted.
So when kids has to duck down to get into kids tents, this makes them feel bigger and more adult-like. You know how you feel when you have to duck under a short door-way or get into a tent. You feel big too. Kids play is not sophisticated. Just going in and out of kids tents is lots of fun for them. It mayseem repetitive and boring to us adults sometimes, but that’s because we’ve done it before. It’s new to a kid and exciting. Kids make up their own games with kids tents. They go in and out of secret tunnels and do lots of pretending. Try pitching kids tents under your deck or in the middle of a play ground or even your garden. Your child will soon turn that kids tent into a jungle shack or forest den. Get your child a “Fun Zone with Tunnel Hole” tent from Pacific Play tents and you’ll see what I mean. You can set it up inside or outside and your child will play in this tent for hours asit will be their very own fun zone.
There is no question that children have lots of fun in Play House Tents when indoors during the winter months. But putting up a new play house tent outdoors can be even more fun for your child and they will be outside instead of inside playing video games or watching TV. You’ll want to bring the play house tent indoors if its going to rain but they are so easy to set up and tear down that it
won’t be a bother. There are many different types of play house tents.

Tents for kids so toss your kid in a Playchute Parachute
My oldest daughter Jenny gave birth to her first child (McKenna Kaye) on February 16 of this year so as of this posting date, she is now 8 1/2 weeks old. Yesterday Jenny witnessed McKenna roll over for the first time and she was so excited. I remember the first time I saw Jenny do that 28 years ago. It brought back very fond memories including days when Jenny and the rest of our family
went camping. One of the things we did not have back then that we do today are tents for kids. And there are lots of them. They are available in a variety of different sizes and shapes.
One item in particular that is really fun is the PlayChute Parachute. Kids know exactly what to do with the parachute when they get one. Each kid grabs two handles on the parachute and flings it into the air and watch it drift down. Kids take turns running underneath the parachute while others throw wiffle balls onto the top and watch them fly all over. These are the things normally advertised with this parachute. But things get really exciting when you put one of the young kids in the parachute and have adults toss the child into the air. The adults initially are very cautious, safe and very careful tossing each child into the air but soon learn the limits of each child and find themselves laughing uncontrollably along with the kids. Every one has a blast and nobody every gets hurt.
Get a Play-chute Parachute for your next camping trip and have the fun of your life and watch the kids play like never before. I can’t wait for the day when McKenna Kaye is old enough to be tossed in a Playchute Parachute. Four more years of waiting is all I have left.
Nurse Nancy & Dr. Timmy can pretend to save lives in this Kids Tent

They apply bandaids to brothers, sisters, friends or even you. They might even become a real doctor or nurse some day. The fact that they just want to help people is fun to know. If your child isn’t interested in pretending to play hospital, there are still lot of other kinds of indoor play tents they may enjoy.
